SCOTT WEISS: Co-founder & VP, General Manager

Scott Weiss is an innovator in the email industry. As one of the early team members at Hotmail he was responsible for all partnership and business development efforts. After Hotmail was acquired by Microsoft, Weiss joined idealab! to pursue start-up opportunities. At idealab!, he partnered with IronPort co-founder Scott Banister, and developed the concept that became IronPort. Weiss holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from the University of Florida, both with Honors.

 


SCOTT BANISTER: Co-founder & Director, Technology

Scott Banister is a pioneer in the email business, and started his career as Founder and Vice President of Technology at ListBot - the largest ASP for business email list hosting. After ListBot was acquired by Microsoft, he founded eVoice (creator of the first email-enabled home voicemail service), which was acquired by AOL in 2001. Prior to co-founding IronPort with Scott Weiss, Banister was Vice President of Ideas at idealab!, where he contributed numerous innovations, including the unique bid-for-placement search engine model that powers Overture.

 


NAWAF BITAR: VP, Engineering

Nawaf Bitar heads up the development of Web and email security solutions, as well as reputation systems and anti-spam technology. He has over 20 years of engineering and engineering management experience. Prior to joining IronPort, Bitar was Vice President of Data ONTAP Engineering at Network Appliance, where he managed development of NetCache, Data ONTAP GX and Data ONTAP. He also established NetApp's engineering center in Bangalore, India. Prior to NetApp, Bitar was an engineer and manager at Silicon Graphics, where he contributed to the development of the Origin 2000 family of products. He holds a B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin.


TOM GILLIS: VP, Marketing

Tom Gillis oversees IronPort's marketing communications, product management and training teams. He is responsible for developing IronPort's marketing and product strategy and ensuring that it delivers products, programs and results. Before joining IronPort, Gillis was Senior Vice President/General Manager at iBEAM Broadcasting, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, operations and development functions for his business unit, and also helped take the company public in 2000. He previously spent several years at Silicon Graphics, ultimately managing a product marketing department responsible for the company's flagship graphics workstations. Gillis holds an M.B.A. from Harvard, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an M.S.E.E. from Northwestern University and a B.S.E.E. from Tufts University.


STEVE SHRAY: VP, Operations

Steve Shray is responsible for global operations for IronPort's customer support, supply chain and corporate IT departments. Before joining IronPort, he served as CEO, board member, and COO of Microtech Systems, and also held management positions in operations and business planning with Intel and Cypress Semiconductor. Shray holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree with honors in Industrial Engineering from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

 


KELLY BATTLES: VP, Finance

Kelly Battles is responsible for IronPort's treasury, investor relations, and financial planning and analysis functions. She is experienced in executing acquisitions, divestitures, venture investments, joint ventures and strategic partnerships. Prior to joining IronPort, Battles was Director of Strategy and Corporate Development at Hewlett-Packard, where she led business and investment strategies, equity transactions and major strategic alliances. She holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S.E. from Princeton University, both with Honors.

 


DANIELLE MURCRAY: Director, Finance

Danielle Murcray is a certified public accountant with over 10 years of financial experience in the global high technology industry. She was previously Corporate Controller at Packeteer, Inc., where she managed corporate and international finance, tax, legal and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Prior to Packeteer, Murcray was Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer at Brio Software, Inc. She holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Central Washington University.

 

 


KEITH VALORY: Director, Business Development

Keith Valory oversees corporate development and strategic alliances at IronPort Systems. Previously, he was a corporate associate with Venture Law Group LLC (now a division of Heller Eherman LLP) where he advised technology companies on issues relating to venture capital and venture debt funding, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property matters. Valory graduated Summa Cum Laude with J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Santa Clara University, and also graduated with Highest Honors in Economics from the University of California, at Santa Cruz.

 


SHREY BHATIA: VP, International Sales

Shrey Bhatia is responsible for IronPort's international sales and worldwide channel organizations. Prior to joining IronPort, he was responsible for worldwide business development and strategic alliances at Veritas Software (acquired by Symantec). Bhatia also held senior sales, product development, marketing and business development roles at iBEAM (acquired by Williams Co.), Booz Allen & Hamilton, GE Capital and GE International. He holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Rutgers University, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

 


JEFF WILLIAMS: VP, US Sales

Jeff Williams' responsibilities include leading IronPort's domestic sales, systems engineering, channels, renewals and operational support teams. Under his leadership, IronPort's business has experienced an impressive 135% compound annual growth rate. Before joining IronPort, Williams was Vice President of Sales at IntruVert Networks (recently acquired by Network Associates), VP of Sales of Abeona Networks (a Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia Capital funded company), and GlobalCenter, where he led the sales organization through its $6.5 billion merger with Exodus Communications. He holds a B.S. degree in Marketing from California State University at Chico.


PATRICK R. PETERSON: Director, Technology

As IronPort's technology evangelist, Patrick Peterson works with industry associations, Global 2000 organizations, service providers and government agencies to architect and develop email and Web security solutions. Joining IronPort in 2000, he defined IronPort's email security appliances and pioneered the creation of IronPort's SenderBase, the industry's first reputation service. Peterson co-chairs the technical committee for the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG) and the authentication committee for the Authentication and Online Trust Alliance.

Prior to joining IronPort, Peterson was Vice President of Engineering Operations at Savi Technology. He has B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and also holds patents related to antennas, radio frequency communications and email security. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, including RSA, Gartner, Networkers and AusCert.
